Hashimoto's Thyroid Disease

Hashimoto’s disease is a long-term inflammation and destruction of the thyroid gland as a result of a disorder in the immune system. Hashimoto’s disease is an endocrine system disease known as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and chronic autoimmune thyroiditis and is caused by a disorder of the immune system. Our body perceives its own thyroid gland as foreign tissue and gradually destroys it, that is, the antibodies produced by the body against foreign substances attack the thyroid cells together with the immune system, causing inflammation of the thyroid gland and damage to the tissue, causing the thyroid gland to fail to function and the level of hormones secreted over time to decrease. Hashimoto’s disease is one of the immune system diseases called autoimmune diseases.

Symptoms of Hashimoto's thyroid:

  • Low energy,
  • Sleep problems
  • Excessive sweating,
  • Bagging under the eyes
  • Hair loss
  • Goitre (benign disease in which the thyroid gland enlarges)
  • Weakness, fatigue, slowness of movements,
  • Depressed and unhappy,
  • Chills
  • Oedema of the hands and feet,
  • Reduced sweating,
  • Hoarseness,
  • Constipation
  • Abnormal weight gain, excess appetite,
  • Forgetfulness, decreased concentration,
  • Decrease or absence of menstruation in women.

What do we do with a functional medicine approach in patients with Hashimoto's disease?

We aim to find the root cause that triggers autoimmunity

We consider all triggers that may trigger the disease by accepting the person as a whole, soul body mind.

We determine all food sensitivities that may exist in the person and prepare personalised therapeutic nutrition programmes

Firstly, we cut off contact with the trigger and reduce all potentially damaging toxins.

If the root cause is the intestine, we support repair by addressing the liver if toxin excretion is insufficient

How do we support Hashimatoda with Resonance Therapies?

With Resonance Therapies, we help detox by supporting toxin excretion against gluten, lactose and casein-containing foods

The intestinal flora is balanced.

With Resonance Therapies, we contribute to effective stress management with spiritual balancing sessions by managing stress and anxiety, which is one of the important causes of autoimmune diseases.

What is Hashimoto's Laser Therapy (Photobiomodulation)?

It is a method and laser therapy used in the treatment of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Laser therapy aims to regulate the functioning of the thyroid gland by applying low doses of laser light to the thyroid gland.

Who Can Receive Laser Treatment for Hashimoto's Disease?

Patients who can be included in the laser treatment programme in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis are those who have high thyroid antibodies (anti-TPO) and/or thyroiditis findings on thyroid ultrasound and who are taking medication (thyroid hormone) and whose T3, T4 and TSH levels are within normal limits. It is the right approach to start laser treatment in Hashimoto’s patients who have been taking medication for a long time.

To which patients is laser treatment not applicable in Hashimoto's?

  • Pregnant women,
  • Graves’ patients,
  • Those who have had thyroid surgery,
  • fast-acting thyroid disease (hyperthyroidism)
  • The ones who’ve had radiotherapy to the neck,
  • Not for people with thyroid cancer

How to Apply?

Hashimoto’s laser treatment is applied in 6 sessions in total. It is applied for three days in a row or to be completed within ten days. Each session lasts approximately 15-20 minutes (depending on the patient) and is painless. During the treatment, laser light focused on a point on the skin penetrates the thyroid gland and helps to improve the function of the gland. Antioxidant serums can be given on the first and last day of laser treatment.

What are the Benefits of Hashimoto's Laser Treatment

  • Promotes regeneration of thyroid tissue regeneration
  • Improves blood circulation in thyroid tissue
  • Increases thyroid hormone production
  • Reduces thyroid antibody levels,
  • Reduces the need for post-treatment medication
  • The progression of the disease is prevented,
  • Provides weight control due to Hashimoto’s disease
  • can increase Transforming Growth Factor (TGF-β1=Transforming Growth Factor Beta), a cytokine that helps induce and maintain one’s tolerance, thus also reducing thyroid autoimmunity.

Hashimoto’s laser treatment can be an effective treatment option for many people, but of course, since each patient is different, treatment results may vary from person to person.

What are the advantages of Hashimoto's laser treatment?

  • Does not require a surgical intervention
  • Hashimoto’s laser treatment allows patients to recover quickly
  • Reduces the risk of progression of Hashimoto’s disease
  • It is non-invasive, i.e. non-invasive. Therefore, the patient’s recovery process is faster.
  • Tissues are not damaged in the treatment
  • Anaesthesia is not required.
  • After laser treatment, the patient can continue his/her daily life.
  • Usually there is no pain and discomfort after laser treatment and the healing process can be more comfortable.
  • No known side effects have been observed so far.
